Universidade de Oxford
Considerada a melhor universidade do mundo, a tradicional Universidade de Oxford fica na cidade de Oxford, na Inglaterra. Essa é nada mais e nada menos do que a mais antiga universidade de língua inglesa do mundo — sua fundação remete ao ano de 1906.
A qualidade de Oxford é refletida na trajetória de muito dos seus ex-alunos. Lá se formaram 27 ganhadores do prêmio Nobel, além de vários líderes políticos de dentro e fora da Inglaterra — o ex-primeiro-ministro David Cameron e o ex-presidente americano Bill Clinton são exemplos.
Universidade de Cambridge
A Universidade de Cambridge é mais uma instituição britânica a liderar o ranking de melhores universidades. Localizada em Cambridge, na Inglaterra, é a segunda mais antiga do país, ficando atrás apenas de Oxford.
Entre seus alunos notáveis, estão grandes nomes da ciência, como Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin e Francis Bacon. Além disso, mais de 90 dos ex-alunos e professores foram vencedores do prêmio Nobel.

Universidade da Pennsylvania
Em décimo lugar na lista de melhores universidades da Times Higher Education, a Universidade da Pennsylvania, localizada na Filadélfia, é uma das instituições que compõem a Ivy League, grupo formado entre as 8 mais tradicionais e antigas universidades dos Estados Unidos. A universidade brasileira mais bem colocada na Times Higher Education é a USP, que ocupa a posição 250-300º do ranking. Outra universidade que também aparece no ranking é a UNICAMP, que ocupa a posição 401-500º.
Com o ranking de melhores universidades da Times Higher Education, é possível perceber que cada uma das dez primeiras listadas tem todo um histórico de desempenho notável. É interessante observar, também, que Reino Unido e Estados Unidos saem na frente como países onde se concentram as melhores instituições. Esse, sem dúvidas, é um ponto decisivo na hora de escolher onde cursar o ensino superior fora do país.
